This is our second fish meal from HelloFresh and a fish that I had never had before. Barramundi also called Asian Sea Bass has a mild flavor and a white, flaky flesh, with varying amount of body fat. It is popular in Australian, Bengali, Goan and Thai cuisine.

My mother being from a fishing and cannery village in Maine we grew up with all kinds of sardines and other canned fish in the house. My sister loved sardines but I never cared for them but Alex is a big fan. We purchased this canned mackerel for him to try. Ocean’s is a Scottish company who since 1962, has been providing tinned seafood to North Americans. They achieved plastic neutrality in 2022, and source only responsibly caught seafood.
Alex liked them very much not as much as the sardines he had in Portugal but still very good
As an Hors d’Oeuvres I thought it was OK on an occasional basis
The country featured for the Coin and Currency Club this month is Laos. Laos, officially the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, is a socialist landlocked country in southeast Asia. HelloFresh tonight is Hoisin Honey Chicken. It continues to amaze me that after more than two months of HelloFresh meals we have not had any repeats. This chicken dish was another winner enjoyed by all of us a solid 8 out of 10.
Ingredients always fresh
Choucroute garnie is a favorite dish of mine so I purchased some imported Bavarian sauerkraut from Hengstenberg to see if it was any better than the supermarket American brands. The sauerkraut was significantly better with a more tangy bite and a cleaner taste.
Went well with some kielbasa
