Taste Test – HelloFresh (Plant-Based Protein Ragu Rigatoni Bake)

Hello Fresh tonight is another plant based meal this time using plant-based protein. We were surprised with the plant protein as it was indistinguishable from meat in this recipe. I hope in the future we move to a culture were we use much more plant based or lab produced meat to limit the environmental impact of mass animal husbandry with all of its problems. We are loving HelloFresh’s cream tomato sauce as it is becoming one of our favorites. 10 out of 10 great job Alex.

Taste Test – HelloFresh (Bavette Steak & Roasted Garlic Pan Sauce)

HelloFresh tonight is Bavette Steak with a roasted garlic pan sauce. The steak was fine but the demi-glaze sauce with roasted garlic was exceptional. It was the type of sauce you are tempted to drink when the meal is finished. Alex and I both loved it but it was a little to strong tasting for Rita. 9 out of 10.

HelloFresh mashed is always excellent

Taste Test – Chapulines (Grasshoppers)

Insects are eaten all around the world and are a significant source of protein for a great many people. We all have food prejudice and I will admit insects have always been one of mine. The texture of a mushy insect has been a deterrent to me ever trying them before. These chapulines were fried and crunchy so I decided they would be a good entry point for Alex and I to the world of insect culinary endeavors.

Alex and I both enjoyed the crunchy lemony taste of these grasshoppers and did not find them off-putting at all.

They were crunchy and salty with just a hint of lemon, no other discernable flavor
