A difference of opinion with tonight’s HelloFresh. Alex and I both loved the enchiladas and gave the dish 10 out of 10 whereas Rita who is not a fan of Mexican food only rated it a 6 out of 10.

Taste Test – HelloFresh (Apricot, Almond & Chickpea Tagine)
HelloFresh tonight is this Tagine dish. We used to have a tagine before it broke and this recipe although very good was not all that reminiscent of a dish cooked in an actual tagine from Morocco. 9 out of 10.
Taste Test – HelloFresh (Silky Sicilian Penne)
Alex’s turn at HelloFresh resulted in one of our all time favorite pasta dishes from them. 9 out of 10 in an unanimous rating.
Taste Test – HelloFresh (Fully Loaded Pork Taquitos)
A taquitos dish from HelloFresh tonight. Alex loves Mexican food and Rita does not with me somewhere in the middle so ratings of 6 , 7 and 9 are indicative of our individual tastes.
Taste Test – Epic Artisanal Pork Cracklings with Maple Bacon Seasoning
These pork cracklings from Epic a meat purveyor out of Texas were touted as artisanal. They were in fact a very nice crackling reminiscent of ones you would get down south.
I found the maple bacon flavoring to be superfluous, why add a bacon flavor to fried pork fat and skin?? The cracklings would have been better if just plain. They were crunchy with just the right ratio of fat to meat to skin that you like in a crackling. The bag was a bit powdery with each piece coated with pork dust which was mildly off-putting. Alex does not like cracklings while typically I enjoy them quite a bit. I rate these a mediocre 6 out of 10.
