Marble Inn – Fair Haven, Vermont
Two white houses on the village green of Fair Haven, Vermont, are tributes to the state’s marble and slate industries that look like frosted wedding cakes. The Marble Inn was a house built by Ira C. Allen in 1867, Allen was an early investor in the states marble and slate industries and was the grandson of famous Revolutionary War hero Ethan Allen. The house was built in the Italianate style that was popular at the time, and both were built by the architect A.C. Hopson from nearby Whitehall, New York. Their distinctive glow comes from a creamy white marble with just a tinge of green, all from the quarries 15 miles to the east in Rutland. The house is currently an Inn.
Adams House – Fair Haven, Vermont

This is the house built by Joseph Adams in the 1860s, Adams was an early investor in the states marble and slate industries. The house was built in the Italianate style that was popular at the time, and both were built by the architect A.C. Hopson from nearby Whitehall, New York. Their distinctive glow comes from a creamy white marble with just a tinge of green, all from the quarries 15 miles to the east in Rutland. The house is now subdivided into apartments and as of October 2022 there are units available.
Lakefront Walk – Lake George Village, New York
The shoreline between Lake George and the village of Lake George is a pedestrian walkway perfect for a gentle stroll. In 1986, The State of New York awarded Lake George Village a Waterfront Revitalization grant, and construction of the first section of the Walkway along Beach Road began in 1988.Ten years later, another 650 feet of Walkway was completed, bringing the path up the Western Shore past restaurants, taverns, shops and boat rental businesses. The final stretch, completed in 2004, brought the walkway to Lower Amherst Street just north of Shepard Park.
