One of my favorite foraging activities in the early spring is heading to a favorite fiddlehead area. Alex had never tried them before so we picked some up at the local supermarket.
We parboiled them and then sautéed in garlic and butter. I loved them but Alex was less than impressed.
I am so proud of Alex he is willing to try everything twice even if it looks unappetizing or unusual. Look here for recipe ideas. A nice easy forage that is also available commercially in the New England area. Please note not all ferns yield edible fiddleheads get yourself a good edible plant guide book before experimenting.
