Restaurant Review – Ristorante il Tartufo Pizzeria (Coimbra, Portugal)

For dinner on our second night in Coimbra, Portugal we again headed into the old town’s central square. Many of the restaurants we wanted to try were unfortunately closed due to Covid-19. We settled on the Ristorante il Tartufo Pizzeria. We had pizza for lunch so we ordered other entrees.

We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer and a limoncello to wash it down (for me :)).

The bruschetta was ok but not great the tomatoes were not ripe not much flavor, hint of oregano could not detect any garlic or olive oil. The limoncello was not what I expected but as I had never had one before I really did not know what to expect, again ok.
For entrées Alex ordered salmon and I got Vitela (beef) with pepper.

Salmon and beef both got the Mark Wiens head tilt from Alex.

I do not care for salmon so I won’t comment, the beef was tasty, juicy and perfectly cooked and super tender. The gravy was a little too salty for my taste. Vegetables were so so. The greens were boiled down into a mushy something and the potatoes…mediocre but ok.
