Wildlife Sighting – Pileated Woodpecker
Alex saw this Pileated Woodpecker right outside our house in Raymond, New Hampshire. The tree he was pounding on was in our front driveway. The pileated woodpecker is quite a large bird with a distinctive red head. It is actually very reminiscent of the cartoon character Woody Woodpecker.
They are loud birds who drill into dead trees looking for carpenter ants and other insects.
Alex went out and examined the holes the woodpecker was drilling.
