Endicott Rock Historic Site – Laconia, New Hampshire

On August 1, 1652 John Endicott, Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, inscribed his name along with the initials of several other people into a rock which was believed to be the headwaters of the Merrimack River. The Endicott Rock Historic Site is located in the Weir’s Beach village of Laconia, New Hampshire, the rock may very well be the oldest public monument in New England.
