Settler’s Rock historic site in Peterborough is the location where Peterborough’s first settler Thomas Morison set up a lean-to against a large boulder in 1739. Morison returned to the area 10 years later and became the towns first European settler.
The rock is no longer on site and its whereabouts is unknown. It may have been destroyed with the construction of the highway or sank into the adjacent pond.
What’s left is smaller boulders and scrub fields.
