Early American Clocks Historical Marker – Chester, New Hampshire

Isaac Blasdel was an early American clock maker (1738-1791) from Chester, New Hampshire. Blasdel was a revolutionary war soldier and a town selectman. The English clock maker William Clement is credited with inventing the “grandfather style” clock in 1670 and Blasdel and others perfected the style. The clock pictured above is by Blasdel and was sold at auction a few years ago.
