Mel’s Funway Park – Litchfield, New Hampshire

Mel’s Funway in Litchfield, New Hampshire is the type of roadside amusement park common back in my childhood. A combination of snack stands, batting cages, mini-golf, arcades and go-carts.

Stowell Road Covered Bridge – Merrimack, New Hampshire

The Stowell Road covered bridge spanning the Baboosic Brook in Merrimack, New Hampshire was built in 1990 and is one of the few covered bridges in southern New Hampshire. The bridge is easy to get to but parking and photo opportunities are not the best as it is surrounded by private property and a public road open to traffic.

The Healthy Buffalo (Chichester, New Hampshire) – Food Shop Review

The Healthy Buffalo in Chichester, New Hampshire is the go to place in Northern New England for exotic meat.

The meat here is all frozen and there are several display cases of the various selections. Some of the items are kept in the back freezer as well. Take a look at the display cases and also on the white board which has all of the current pricing. You must ask for the frog legs as they are one of the items in the back.

On this particular visit we purchased some frog legs (a staple for us as both Alex and I love them) an emu steak and some jerky.

We have purchased in the past wild boar, ostrich, elk, rabbit, pheasant, kangaroo, alligator and several cuts of buffalo (bison).
The frog legs from this trip were delicious as always and the emu steak was like a piece of beef and totally un-poultry like.

If you like exotic meat please patronize this store, it is so much more convenient than having to order on-line.
One final note, there is a restaurant associated with the store in Loudon, New Hampshire called The Hungry Buffalo. Alex and I have gone to this restaurant and sampled alligator, buffalo and some other exotic meats. They also have some standard American fare for the less adventuresome.

Nottingham Historic Marker – Raymond, New Hampshire

In the town of Raymond, New Hampshire on NH Route 27 there is a historic marker for the town of Nottingham. Nottingham is the location of the wonderful Pawtuckaway State Park just a few miles from this marker. Nottingham was established in 1722 and was the home of four Revolutionary War generals. The monument to the four generals was dedicated in 1917. It is located in the Nottingham town square.

The marker has a small area in front room for one vehicle to park along the side of the road and the marker itself is slightly overgrown with weeds.

On the Vine Marketplace (Exeter, New Hampshire) – Food Shop Review

On the Vine Marketplace in Exeter, New Hampshire is your one stop shopping place for high end and hard to find food items. This is the type of gourmet grocer that you can find in many large cities but is not so common in Northern New England. If you are looking for bargains this is not the place but for quality items it cannot be beat.

New photo by Wanderlust Family Adventure / Google Photos

The meat, fish and produce are all of exceptional quality. I have never been disappointed with the freshness of the fish, the meat selections are high end and the produce is vibrant. I used to stop here frequently just to pick up raspberries or strawberries for my ride home. You will never find white unripe strawberries in the bottom of your package.

There are a few seats after the checkout lanes if you want to take a bite of your sandwich or pastry.

You will be able to find better cheese in a cheese shop, a bigger selection of wine in a wine store and items at a much lower price if you are able to locate them in a supermarket but for a one stop option this is it.
