We had been receiving Universal Yums for over a year but started to get repeat countries. Because of this we decided to cancel our subscription and subscribe instead to Snack Crate. After researching several options they seemed to have a different variety of countries available and have distinct regions as well. We got the largest box available which has from 18-22 snacks and upgraded with the drink option. The price of the box is quite a bit more than the Yum box ~$60 per month with the drink option. When signing up you can chose more salty of sweet options, we chose a 50/50 mixture. With a beginning subscription you can choose a region prior to receiving your monthly selections. We chose Hawaii since it is a place we have not received snacks from before.

We started with the drink Lilikoi Passion fruit juice Alex-6 Joe-6 Alex actually likes passion fruit juice and we buy it for him at the store but he only thought this one was average.

Mochi-pop Crunch was a caramel corn with rice crackers. Alex-8 Joe-8 Alex and I both thought the caramel popcorn was very good heavily coated with tasty caramel but neither of us liked the rice cracker inclusions.

Hawaiian Hulapeno Chips – Jalapeno flavored kettle cooked potato chips Alex-7 Joe-8 Despite the face Alex thought they were ok, I prefer plain to flavored chips but liked them as well.

Maui Style Onion Chips another nice kettle cooked style of chip Alex-5 Joe-8

Lilikoi Biscuits -Lilikoi is a small roundish fruit that grows on a vine, has many seeds, and is used most often to make juice. These crackers were ok with peanut butter or cheese but plain on their own. Alex did not care for them at all. Alex-3 Joe-7

Luau BBQ Rings – puffed corn with a sweet and spicy BBQ flavor. Alex loved them Alex-9 Joe-7

Kakimochi cookies were small buttery sesame flavored cookies. Alex-6 Joe-6

Chili Peppah Nuts – dry roasted macadamia nuts with chili and lemon flavor. Alex-4 Joe-5

Rainbow Belts are brightly colored gummy strips Alex-7 Joe-7

Wow-Wee Maui Kona coffee beans, creamy caramel and milk chocolate. Best in the box a coffee flavored chocolate bar with caramel Alex-9 Joe-10

Tapa Toffee chocolate mixed with macadamia nuts and toffee pieces Alex-6 Joe-6

Pretz Pineapple – pineapple flavored pretzels Alex-5 Joe-6

Pretz Kona Coffee, coffee flavored pretzels Alex-6 Joe-6

Pineapple shortbread – An ok very soft shortbread but with a cheap tasting pineapple filling Alex-6 Joe-7

Senbei crackers – crunchy rice crackers quite plain Alex-4 Joe-5

Kona Crunch – macadamia nuts dipped in milk chocolate with crispy rice inclusions Alex-7 Joe-6

Li Hing Mui Drops – sweet hard candies flavored with plums with a dried plum center Alex-6 Joe-5

White Rabbit Candy – sweet milk chews Alex-6 Joe-6

Teriyaki Tuna Jerky – we saved the most interesting treat for last with the tuna jerky. Alex and I both love jerky of all kinds but this was just a little too fishy for us to rate it highly. I know tuna what did we expect 🙂 Alex-7 Joe-7

Overall our ratings compare closely to what we had been giving Universal Yum boxes. I like that there are more snacks in snack crate 22 compared to 20 and I like the added drink option. Looking forward to future boxes and some different places we haven’t been to.
