Doctor Who Character/Actor Profile – Sadie Miller as Sarah Jane Smith

Sadie Miller is the daughter of Elisabeth Sladen and Brian Miller. She has taken on the role of Sarah Jane Smith following the death of her mother for Big Finish audio adventures.

I was amazed listening to recent Big Finish audios featuring Sadie in the role originated by her mother. I have had a hard time in adapting to other recasting of classic characters with some taking me out of the story because the original voice was so ingrained in my consciousness. In listening to Sadie however I could “hear” her mother’s voice in my head. Her tonal quality is very similar to her mothers and she is also a very competent actor in her own right. I am so happy with this recast as Sarah Jane is my favorite companion and I am happy we can now hear new adventures featuring the character.

Wildlife Sighting – Chilean Recluse Spider

The Chilean Recluse is one of the larger species of recluse spiders, generally ranging from 8–40 mm in size (including legs). Like most recluses, it is brown and usually has markings on bottom of its body. It is one of the most venomous of all recluse type spiders and its bite can lead to serious systemic reactions up to and including death. Alex and Rita took this picture little knowing the potential danger they were in.

Classic Cars in the Wild – Chevrolet 3100 Pickup Truck

Alex spotted this classic truck in Arapongas on his recent trip to Brazil. In 1956, Chevrolet introduced the 3100 series as a replacement for its Advance Design series from a few years prior. With production running until 1961, the Chevy 3100 is easily one of the most well-known vintage trucks today. In fact, it’s also widely considered to be one of the most beautiful.
