August 2019 Universal Yums hail from Turkey. Alex and I were excited to try some snacks from the Islamic world.
Ondule Kebab – If you have been following these Yum posts you will know how I feel about what seems like the entire world’s fascination is with meat flavored snacks. These kebob flavored corn snacks are just another example of these. Emma likes them though 🙂 Alex-5 Joe-4
Tomby Ketcop Aromali Misir Cipsi – These ketchup flavored snacks are similar to what you will see in many European countries. Alex-5 Joe-5
Torku Gofret Cifte Lezzet Karamelli Findik – These caramel and hazelnut wafer cookies were quite good. Alex-10 Joe-8
Today Goldies Milk & Honey – Twinkie like snack with a milk and honey cream filling. Alex-8 Joe-8
Keyifce Fistikli Cezerye – Turkish delight with carrot, pistachio and coconut. Chewy and very sweet. Alex-6 Joe-8
Today Cherry Donut – A decent snack donut Alex-8 Joe-7
Crunch Tako & Hardal Aromali Cips – Taco flavored Bugle shaped snacks. Alex-9 Joe-7
Ulker Krispi Tirtikli Kraker Baharatli – Cracker type chips with mixed spices. Not really chip like more of a cracker. Alex-6 Joe-6
Mevlana Sekeri – Sugar candies with strawberry, bergamot or orange-chocolate flavor. Alex-7 Joe-6
Ulker Susamli Cubuk Kraker – Sesame seed coated cracker sticks, somewhat a cross between a breadstick and a pretzel. Delicious. Alex-8 Joe-10
Torku Enjoy Kek – Chocolate and vanilla sponge cake with orange filling. Very good even though not my favorite flavors. Alex-7 Joe-9
Assorted Turkish Delight – Rose, Lemon and orange flavored sugary candies. By far the most famous Turkish sweet, these were good but I can only assume the real thing would be much better. Alex-7 Joe-8
Lush Cocoa Creme Mosaic Cookies – These chocolate cookies with cream filling were very good. Alex-7 Joe-9
Ulker Krispi Peynir Sogan – Cheese and onion cracker chips. OK in flavor but I would have preferred them in chip not cracker form. Alex-7 Joe-7
Tatsan Soft Nougat – Soft chocolate nougat with hazelnuts. It looks better than it tasted with a poor chocolate flavor. Alex-8 Joe-6
Tatkrak Cubuk Acili – These spicy cracker sticks were not very spicy. Alex-6 Joe-7
Toffix Melo Melo – Soft milk candy with pear and orange flavorings. Very sticky. Alex-7 Joe-8
Toffix Mastic – Soft chewy candy with mastic flavor. Mastic comes from the gum-like sap of the mastic tree. Alex-7 Joe-7
Keyifce Antep Fistikli – Fruit leather triangles with fruit molasses and pistachios. Best in box snack for me, very chewy with nice sugary and pistachio flavor. Alex-6 Joe-10

Overall a decent box of snacks but Alex and I both would be happy to never see another meat flavored chip!
