Taste Test – Maple Hill Organic Chocolate Whole Milk

I am a great fan of whole milk chocolate milk and used to enjoy the Premium Chocolate Milk manufactured by Oakhurst Dairy in Maine. Recently they appeared to have changed their chocolate powder because the milk while just as rich did not have the same chocolate flavor. There are very few whole milk chocolate milks on the market in my area and most of the ones I have tried have the same inferior chocolate flavor. I saw these Maple Hill aseptic containers on line and decided to give them a try. Organic food is a marketing ploy and I try not to buy anything so labeled but I overlooked that in this case. The milk was distributed by Maple Hill Creamery out of Kinderhook, New York and manufactured by Steuben Foods in Elma, New York. As a side note if you want to know where your milk is from look for the number imprinted on the side of the gable top of the container, in this case 36-4016. This is the IMS number and each manufacturing plant must have their number on every container they produce. Most small dairies no longer produce their own product and only distribute product manufactured from large dairies.

The milk was rich and the chocolate flavor was acceptable but still not of the best quality. The product was OK but not great.
