Mary E. Folsom Blair Community Park – Epping, New Hampshire

Mary Folsom was born in 1881 directly across the river from the present park site. Mary Folsom Blair is best known for her fifty years of teaching in the area, she was loved by all of her students and was very innovative for her time with her methods and compassion.

One of Mary’s ancestors Joshua Folsom built a gristmill on this site, you can see the foundations and abutments in the river. The beginning of the National Wild and Scenic River designation for the Lamprey River starts at the dam here.

Do not be alarmed if you see a lot of vehicles parked, there is a little league field in the park and there may be a game in progress.
