The square schoolhouse in Nottingham was built around 1850 and is one of the best-preserved mid-19th century schoolhouses in southern New Hampshire. It is named not for its shape, but for its location in Nottingham Square. The building served as a schoolhouse until 1920 and is presently housing the Nottingham Historical Society.
The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival is an event that takes place the weekend after Labor Day each year. The festival includes a variety of food and shopping options as well as some live entertainment. This year was the 34th year for the festival and featured a Tom Petty cover band at the clamshell.
We took a short trip to Weirs Beach on the shore of Lake Winnipesauke so that Alex could spend some time with his friend Katie before she moved to Virginia.
MaryAnn’s Diner in Derry is a 1950s themed diner with décor reflecting the era and very good diner food especially for breakfast. The diner is right on the main street (NH Route 102) with ample parking in back of the establishment.
