Taste Test – Try the World (October 2020)

Our favorite subscription box Try the World arrived for October 2020. The box contained products from Italy Spain, Thailand, Ecuador and Florida. As I mentioned in my previous Try the World post the products are all top notch but it is disappointing that there is no description flyer for the products.

Very tasty

Olive Oil from Spain

Raspberry Rose flavored water from Ecuador.

A mixture of several different ingredients.

A balsamic vinegar glaze from Italy.

Beef Shawarma marinade

Nashville hot chicken seasoning from Florida

I did not find it overly spicy.

Tartufo Linguine from Italy.

A very good tasting pasta, we served with a pesto.

Restaurant Review – Outback Steakhouse (Methuen, Massachusetts)

Going out to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law we stopped at the Outback Steakhouse in Methuen. Not our usual fare when we go out but the it was conveniently located mid distance between the two families.

We settled down and ordered some appetizers.

Blooming onion and nacho dip.

Their bread is always good.

Time for the entrees.

Steak for Rita.

Surf and turf for Kathy.

Ribs for Jim.

Chicken for me.

Taste Test – Saratoga Peanut Butter Company Old Fashioned Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is a favorite of the entire family so for a change from the typical store bought variety we decided to sample this artisan brand from the Saratoga Peanut Butter Company. The company started in a kitchen and continues to make small batches of peanut butter which can be ordered on line. We decided to go with the chunky and creamy peanut butters but they offer a large variety of flavorings as well.

Nutritional Facts

The smooth was not as creamy as what you would find in the store from the mainstream brands.

We all loved both varieties but if you do not like any chunks in your peanut butter it is not quite as creamy as you would expect. The rich peanut flavor was a definite improvement over the supermarket brands.

Taste Test – Hatch Chicken Chips

Not all chicken chips are the same. I previously wrote a post on Flock Chicken Chips which I found to be very good, see my taste test here. Having liked the Flock chips so much I decided to try the Hatch brand when I saw it come across my feed.

The chips arrived and they came in identical packaging to the Flock chips.

The packaging might have been the same but the chips themselves were not as good. If I had tried these first I would never have reordered “chicken chips”. The taste was artificial and stale with a poor aftertaste. If you are going to try these for a Keto diet or just a snack I would recommend the Flock chips not Hatch.

Food Shop Review – Stillwell’s Ice Cream Shop (Raymond, New Hampshire)

Stillwell’s Ice Cream Shop in Raymond is a nice ice cream location if you are in the area. The ice cream is good and the sundaes are extravagant. They use ice cream from Richardson’s Dairy a small dairy in Middleton, Massachusetts, which is a small local dairy. I worked with the processors when they were at Garelick Farms and I can attest to the quality of their work. Stillwell’s is a family owned business which opened its first shop in Atkinson in 2002 and has since expanded to multiple locations in New Hampshire.
