Cleopatra’s Needle – London, England

Cleopatra’s Needle in London is one of three similarly named Egyptian obelisks and is located in the City of Westminster, on the Victoria Embankment near the Golden Jubilee Bridges. It is close to the Embankment underground station. It was presented to the United Kingdom in 1819 by the ruler of Egypt and Sudan Muhammad Ali, in commemoration of the victories of Lord Nelson at the Battle of the Nile and Sir Ralph Abercromby at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801. Although the British government welcomed the gesture, it declined to fund the expense of transporting it to London. The obelisk is inscribed with Egyptian hieroglyphs. The obelisk was originally erected in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis on the orders of Thutmose III, around 1450 BC. The best view of the obelisk is seen from the river.

Kinder Transport Statue – London, England

Nazi authorities staged a violent program in Germany on November 9–10, 1938, known as Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass). Afterwards the British government eased immigration restrictions for certain categories of Jewish refugees. British authorities agreed to allow an unspecified number of children under the age of 17 to enter Great Britain from Germany and German-annexed territories (that is, Austria and the Czech lands). They were spurred by British public opinion and the persistent efforts of refugee aid committees. Notable among the refugee aid committees were the British Committee for the Jews of Germany and the Movement for the Care of Children from Germany. These efforts collectively have been known as the Kinder Transport.
This monument is in the Liverpool Street Station in London.

River Thames Cruise – London, England

We decided to get a nice overview of the city by taking a small boat tour on the River Thames. The hop on hop off boat was a very convenient method to see all the top sites along the river. We hopped on the boat at Tower Bridge.

Restaurant / Food Shop Review – Starbucks, Tower of London (London, England)

Jumping off our Thames River cruise at the Tower of London we saw a Starbucks. Craving our favorite American coffee drinks we stopped for a quick snack. Alex had a s’more frappuccino and I had an iced caramel cloud. The caramel cloud had a fruity touch that resembled pineapple, it was much better than in the US. Alex also had a triple chocolate muffin.
