Taste Test – MunchPak (March 2023)

Our MunchPak shipment for March 2023. We had high hopes for this box as the previous couple of months had the highest score of any of out snack subscription boxes. As it turned out however we rated the box one of our all time lowest scores. Alex 6.44 out of 10 and Joe 6.13 out of 10. If this was one of our first MunchPak boxes we would probably have canceled our subscription as we do not like the fact that there is no theme to the box with the snacks coming from many different countries and not one location.

Taste Test – MunchPak February 2023 #2

Our second MunchPak for this month is again a total winner. We continue to be amazed at the quality of the snacks when compared to other subscription snack boxes. The only complaint being that the snacks come from a variety of countries and do not have a single theme. Although the box does not have the educational value of other subscriptions it is perfect for sitting down in front of the TV. This turned out to be our highest rated box ever Alex 8.04 out of 10, Joe 7.47 out of 10.

Taste Test – MunchPak (February 2023#1)

This MunchPak shipment is the first of two that arrived in February? Countries sampled this time were the same ones as last month; China, Japan, The Philippines, Turkey, Thailand, Korea, Italy and Mexico. I find the quality of the snacks in these boxes to be quite good but the lack of variety of countries from month to month is a definite drawback for a continued subscription. For the first time Alex and I got the exact same score for a subscription box 6.93 out of 10. The quality of these snacks is better than any other subscription boxes we received from Universal Yums or SnackCrate. If you just want a box of snacks to enjoy in front of the TV this box might be just for you. If you want more of an educational element for your kids I would suggest another subscription service.

Taste Test – HelloFresh (Moo Shu Pork Bowl)

HelloFresh for the night was a Moo Shu pork bowl.  In its traditional Chinese version, moo shu pork consists of sliced pork tenderloin, cucumber, and scrambled eggs, stir fried in lard together with bite-sized cuttings of wood ear mushrooms (black fungus) and enoki mushrooms. Historically the original dish in Shandong cuisine contained bamboo shoots. This version is nothing like the original but it was still quite tasty. 7 out of 10.
