Taste Test – Mavuno Harvest Dried Organic Mango

While serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in a tiny village in Kenya called Miti Mingi, Phil Hughes was surprised to learn that on average farmers only sell up to a third of their harvest. The vast majority of fruit remains unsold and is left behind to rot. After hearing that drying fruit opens new markets, creates jobs for the local community, and extends the life and prosperity of the food supply, Phil was inspired to create Mavuno Harvest. These dried mangos are all natural with no added ingredients other than mango, the product was sourced from Kenya and Ghana.

The product was not very sweet being just the dried fruit. It is best when mixed with cereal or in trail mix 7 out of 10

Coins and Currency Club – Mozambique

The Coin and Currency Club selection for this month is Mozambique. Mozambique being a lusophone country made the guessing of country easier than most. Alex also knows his African countries very well and is able to identify them all on Seterra. Mozambique is a country in south eastern Africa with a long coastline on the Indian Ocean. It is bordered by Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwi, Eswatini and South Africa. The capital and largest city is Maputo. The population is ~ 30 million.

Taste Test – Tee’s Kitchen Chin Chin

Chin chin is a fried snack food from Nigeria. It is a simple flour, milk, sugar and butter dough cut into small pieces and fried. Similar to fried dough but very crunchy due to its small surface area, Many Nigerian children eat chin chin like Americans eat cookies as a sweet sugary snack or treat. There are numerous venders on line where chin chins can be purchased.

These chin chins from Tee’s Kitchen were very good both crunchy and sweet. Alex loved them and he munches on some like popcorn while in front of the TV. I prefer more savory snacks and not so sweet but they were very good when you are craving something sweet. Alex 9 out of 10, Joe 7 out of 10.
